The Therapeutic Tremor works with an innovative series of positions that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The Tremor safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. The Therapeutic Tremor is a revolutionary, body based approach that deliberately uses the body’s own innate process of involuntary shaking and tremoring in a safe and controlled way to physically release the effects of chronic stress and unresolved trauma including PTSD. As the process uses a series of simple exercises to invoke tremors that are then able to be self-regulated; it does not require talking about or recalling past events and does not require the ongoing assistance of a therapist for the vast majority of people; meaning the process can be used on your own on an ongoing basis to support and enhance other approaches. Benefits of the Therapeutic Tremor include relief from ongoing stress or tension Pain relief Release of emotional or physical trauma. It promotes overall sense of calm and relaxation Increased flexibility Improved circulation Levity, laughter, joy in your body
CIMBS stands for, “Complex Integration of Multiple Brain Systems”. It is both a somatic and mindfulness based therapy that helps one to better tolerate and serenely be with emotions. CIMBS maximizes the mind’s ability to modify the brain’s structure known as neuroplasticity. CIMBS is a psychotherapy based on discoveries from current neuroscience about the brain and the nervous system. CIMBS is a process that strengthens vital, inborn abilities we all share, such as care, connection, play, pleasure and curiosity. The method involves a specialized collaboration with our patients which creates conditions that allow these capacities to emerge. What we do as CIMBS therapists is slow way down the way we observe ourselves and practice the radical art of paying attention to what unfolds in the present moment with deep acceptance and curiosity. Crucial information about a patient’s challenges and strengths emerges through their physiology such as facial expression, vocal tone and gesture. Patients begin to experience themselves in new ways as they notice habitual physical responses and learn to recognize and change them. They become attuned to their body signals and get to know themselves with more accuracy and kindness. By not lingering on the patient’s past, the CIMBS therapist and patient focus on what is manifesting in the moment. Like physical therapy, CIMBS doesn’t focus on how the injury occurred, it focuses on the injury as it impacts the present. Through the CIMBS process, the patient’s brain spontaneously “re-wires” towards health. This collaborative process empowers patients to navigate their lives in more intentional and satisfying ways.
CIMBS has been shown to work very effectively with Anxiety, Attachment trauma, Religious trauma, dissociative disorders, depersonalization, depression and shame reduction.
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-hour auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, by calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy. The Safe Sound Protocol (SSP) is a non-invasive intervention that involves listening to filtered music. The music has been processed specifically to exercise the tiny stapedius muscle in the middle ear that plays a role in how we process speech, facial expressions, and other social cues. By exercising this muscle, if it is weak, children and adults who struggle to regulate their response to stress, emotions, or auditory information begin to feel a sense of safety and the ability to socially engage, instead of withdrawal. The SSP is a research-based therapy that has shown significant results from immediately after treatment, for up to 8 weeks, in the following areas: Social and emotional difficulties Auditory sensitivities Anxiety and trauma-related challenges Inattention Stressors that impact social engagement
Concentrating the Attention is a body-based practice that teaches how to mindfully observe the knowledge found in your body and bring it consciously to the mind. This process of translating body sensations into conscious understanding is lacking in most of those with trauma activated symptoms. Concentrating the Attention is initially done best in relationship with a therapist guiding the practice. However, its greatest benefit is becoming a tool to using in your every day life. Concentrating the Attention relies on the understanding that your body is continually sending you information about your state, and your attention or lack of it can both calm or amplify the effects of this information. Most of us often do not know how to listen to this information or make sense of it. By listening to what is called the “felt sense” and using the practices that help communicate with it, you can gain vital information that was previously unknown to the mind about problems and difficulties you are experiencing.
Meditation has been a useful and life changing tool for millions of people over the last 3000 years. Here we teach a combination of mindfulness and concentration tailored for those experiencing panic attacks, nausea, and debilitating anxiety. The practice focuses primarily on breath and concentrating on different emotional and physical states as they arise in the body. Meditation is an incredibly gentle pathway into the present that empowers us with feelings of capabilities to handle our circumstances.
Art Integrative Techniques is a process used to explore emotions, whether positive or negative, and help them integrate into the nervous system. It's a form of psychotherapy that encourages expression using visual art materials and is gently guided by forms, color, music, and movement. It is a holistic "whole system" approach that utilizes the intellectual, emotional, and motor centers to create a whole body acceptance and integration experience. It ignites the stagnated chi by utilizing the hand-heart connectors and encourages it to circulate allowing for the unlocking of different emotional blocks. Our hands are rich in neuroreceptors, second only to our lips and genitals. The amount of information that flows in and out is extraordinary. Equally extraordinary, is the amount of healing that can happen as we intentionally work with our hands to create new neurological pathways.
